5 Most Luxurious Camp in Masai Mara

Looking for the most luxurious camp in Masai Mara? I worked as a tour leader in East Africa for many years. While most of my guests were on a budget, others were only interested in sleeping at the most expensive lodge in Masai Mara. This means you won’t have to sleep on the ground or squat in the public toilets. In fact, toilets at the Masai Mara luxury camps are of a high standard and a comfortable bed will ensure you get a peaceful nights’ sleep in the wild. But what hotels, lodges or luxury camps in Masai Mara should you consider? Let’s take a look at my favorite picks…

5 Masai Mara Luxury Camps to Consider

1. Mahali Mzuri

This is my favorite of all the Masai Mara luxury camps. Tucked away in Aitong, Mahali Mzuri is the perfect blend of luxury and nature. This 5-star luxury tented camp in Masai Mara offers stunning amenities like an infinity pool, a lush garden, and a cozy bar. If you’re looking to unwind after a day of adventure, there’s even an outdoor fireplace. The tents here are beyond glamorous, with some offering private entrances and spaces like desks and wardrobes. A few even come with bathtubs, complete with bathrobes, slippers, and a hair dryer for that extra touch of comfort.

The food experience at Mahali Mzuri is top-notch. You can enjoy a variety of options like an à la carte or continental breakfast, and if you’re feeling extra relaxed, breakfast in your room is available too. The restaurant, which is great for families, serves up delicious African cuisine for lunch, dinner, and even high tea. There’s a sun terrace to soak up the views, and the picnic area is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the fresh air.

Do you already have personal travel insurance? Tour operators require you to have this for your safari. I always use World Nomads and suggest you at least know the cost. It takes just a few seconds to get a quote on the link below…

2. Olare Mara Kempinski

Perched along the banks of the Ntiakitiak River in the Masai Mara, Olare Mara Kempinski gives you jaw-dropping views of the savannah and all its wildlife. This place is luxurious in every way – spacious tents with private entrances, seating areas, and even safes for your valuables. Some tents even come with their own plunge pool, and each has a balcony where you can sip your coffee while taking in the river views. The en-suite bathrooms are lovely too, with complimentary toiletries to make you feel at home in this luxurious camp in Masai Mara.

Dining here is an experience in itself, with a set menu served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whether you’re eating under the canvas, by the pool, or on your private deck overlooking the Mara plains, it’s always a treat. You can also fill your days with game drives, swimming, and even massages (on request). Plus, they offer a free shuttle service, and you can stay connected with WiFi in the public areas.

3. Mara Intrepids Tented Camp

Facing the Talek River, Mara Intrepids Tented Camp offers guests a luxury safari experience with stunning views of the river and beyond. The elegantly furnished tents sit on raised platforms, and rates here include three game drives a day, plus transfers from the airstrip. Each tent has a beautiful wooden four-poster bed, mosquito net, and modern bathroom with double vanities and a spacious shower.

Dining is intimate and flexible, with small riverfront dining areas where you can enjoy your meals. If you’re up for something special, breakfast, lunch, and dinner can also be arranged in the African bush. When you’re not out spotting wildlife, you can relax by the outdoor pool or check out the camp’s library and children’s playground. They also organize hot air balloon rides, which is an unforgettable way to see the Mara. Solo travelers love it here – it’s been rated a perfect 10 by those who come alone. This is why I think Mara Intrepids is the best luxury tented camp in Masai Mara for anyone that might want to get away by themselves for a wilderness retreat!

4. Entumoto Main Camp

Located in Ololaimutiek, Entumoto Main Camp offers a stunning escape with views of the surrounding gardens. Each unit comes with a private bathroom and all the essentials like free toiletries and a hair dryer. Waking up to a continental breakfast is the best way to start your day before heading out to explore.

Entumoto stands out for its comfortable, clean, and welcoming accommodations. The tents are luxurious yet cozy, with plenty of hot water, and the staff makes sure you feel safe, especially at night. Whether it’s the food, the service, or the breathtaking location in the hills of the Maasai Mara, everything here is top-notch. The local guides, like Alex, are fantastic, and the whole team is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. You’ll love the fresh food grown in their own garden, and the wildlife viewing is exceptional, whether you’re on a game drive or taking a walking safari. There is also a campfire at sunset which really adds to the appeal of this most luxurious camp in Masai Mara!

5. Mara River Camp by Wilderness Seekers

Located on the northwestern edge of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Mara River Camp gives you front-row seats to the Mara River and all the wildlife action. Imagine waking up to views of hippos, crocodiles, and even giraffes right from your own patio! The camp offers a swimming pool and lush garden, creating a peaceful setting for your stay.

Each tent comes with a seating area and private bathroom, making your stay comfortable and convenient. The in-house restaurant serves buffet-style meals, and for an extra special touch, you can opt for a bush breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Morning game drives start with coffee and tea, and in the evenings, you can enjoy a drink while spotting wildlife. Free WiFi is available in the common areas. But what really sets Mara River Camp apart is the incredibly welcoming staff. Joseph, in particular, will make you feel right at home, and the whole team goes above and beyond to create an unforgettable experience.
