This Epic African Overland Tour Goes All the Way Around Africa!!

Booking a Nairobi to Cape Town overland tour was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It was the reason for me wanting to become a tour leader and it had a huge impact on my life in general. There are so many new experiences from which you can learn and grow on an overland tour. Sharing the cost of these experiences helps you see more than you might on a private safari and the relationships formed with other passengers is something that will stay with you forever.

But this trip could have been even better….if it was longer!

More about this Epic African Overland Tour

The “Fes to Cairo (47 Weeks) Trans Africa” tour is operated by Oasis Overland – a UK based company that runs overland trips in Africa. This tour begins in Fez and ends in Cairo, covering an incredible overland journey that spans 331 days. Along the way, you’ll explore Wadi Halfa, Tiwai Island, Lomé, and 28 other destinations across 17 countries, including Egypt, Angola, and many more. This is a guided group adventure that includes accommodation, transportation, meals, and other amenities.

This extraordinary expedition will take you through Africa’s most breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cultures, and diverse wildlife. From the vast Sahara Desert to the dense jungles of Central Africa and the awe-inspiring wildlife of East Africa, the journey offers an unforgettable experience. While the trip will have its challenges—rough roads, tough terrain, and extreme weather—it will all be worth it as you uncover a side of Africa most travelers only dream about. It really is the most epic African overland tour that you could imagine!!

Note: Since October 2024, the northbound Cape Town to Cairo portion of this trip will be extended to include stops in Eswatini, Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, additional time in Mozambique, and visits to Burundi, Somaliland, and Djibouti. The company will confirm closer to departure whether travel through Sudan is possible or if we’ll need to leave the truck in Addis Ababa and fly to Cairo (at your expense), completing the Egyptian section using local transport and accommodations. Our last two trips followed this adjusted route, and it worked smoothly.
